Here are six steps you can take to get your Realtor’s license in Florida.

Are you looking to become a Real Estate Agent in Florida? If you’re 18 years old, have a social security card, and have a high school diploma or GED, you meet the basic requirements. However, there’s more to the process than that. Today I want to discuss six steps you need to take to get your real estate license in Florida:

1. Take the real estate salesperson course. This is a 63-hour class that will teach you about mortgages, land, law, and a little bit of everything else. It’s a general course, so if you want to specialize in something more specific, you’ll need to seek further education.

2. Pass the exam with a 70% or above. If you fail this exam, you’ll have one more chance to take it within 12 months. If you fail again, you’ll have to take the whole course all over again, so make sure you study hard.

“After getting your license, it’s time to learn everything you can about the business.”

3. Pass a background check. You’ll be fingerprinted; then, your prints will be sent to the DBPR, or the Department of Business and Professional Regulations. You need to send this in at least five days before taking your real estate state exam.

4. Apply for your license. After background approval, it’s time to take the Florida state exam. You need at least a 75% to pass, so whether you’re taking it online or in person, take the crash course. It’s two or three days of studying, but it’s worth it to make sure you pass the exam.

5. Find a broker. This is the fun part. You’re an independent contractor, so instead of being interviewed like a normal job, you’ll be doing the interviews. Ask each broker questions about what makes them unique and why you should work with them. You can go for a big company, a small brokerage, or something completely different.

6. Become the best salesperson you can be. Now it’s time to reeducate yourself and learn the ins and outs of the business. Real estate is a sales industry at the end of the day. Learn how to succeed in sales, and you’ll go a long way.

Hopefully, you found these steps helpful. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!
